Gordy has been serving at the Village Church of Barrington as the Director of Young Adult Ministries since July 2008. His passion is teaching the Scriptures, and he desires to instill a love of the Word in the teens that he ministers to. In addition, Gordy aims to help students make sense of the culture around them and respond in ways consistent with their faith. During the week you can find Gordy drinking coffee in his office, or else trying to take someone out to lunch. His office is always open (which has occasioned several pranks from the high schoolers), and students often bounce thoughts off of him there. Three nights a week he is at church teaching and hanging out with students. On the weekends Gordy likes to date his wife, Rebecca, play with his sons Emmet & Owen, read, watch movies and fish.

Jim has been on staff at Village Church since 1993. After 15 years of youth ministry, Jim graduated. He now serves as our Pastor of Media Arts & Technology. Jim loves hanging out with people, talking about life, theology, computers, cars or whatever else might come up. During the week you can find him at the church (if you look hard enough) fixing someone's computer, or setting up AV for the next big event, or videotaping something wacky for the Youth Pastor, or just helping someone out in some way. Jim loves using his gifts to help others be successful in ministry. On Saturday or Sunday you'll probably find him at the back of the auditorium or gym watching over the sound lighting and computers. In 2014 Jim took over the church’s Men’s Ministry. Jim is passionate about helping men grow in Christ. Jim and Sharon have two sons, Ben and Jonathan and a dog (Luna).

Larry Jacob joined Village Church of Barrington in April 2016 as the Director of Community Life. God led Larry into full-time ministry after 25 years as a Controller and CFO for large real estate and homebuilding companies and a bout with pancreatic cancer. He served in a similar role at Crossroads Community Church in Carol Stream and Director of Finance & Administration at both Harvest Bible Chapel Naperville and Village Church of Gurnee prior to joining the team at VCB. Larry has a sincere passion for helping others connect and cultivate relationships within the Church so they too can experience true Christian Community within the local Church. His aim is to create simple on-ramps for small groups, care, and serving opportunities that are so important in our walk with Jesus. Larry is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree in Spiritual Formation and Leadership at Moody Theological Seminary. Larry and his wife Lisa (PE and Dance Teacher at Maine West High School in DesPlaines) have been married since 1989 and have two grown children, Zach and his wife Katherine, and Kelsey. Larry enjoys fishing, biking, being on the water with family and friends, and training for his next triathlon.

Matt got his professional start in music at the age of 21 when he signed on as a staff songwriter with Tom Collins Music, an established publishing company on legendary Music Row in Nashville. Through several different artist agreements with music companies like Gotee Records, his music has been used in TV and film, reaching a greater audience. After many years of working as a writer, producer, performer, and doing various odd jobs to help supplement the income, he felt God distinctly calling him into service within the Church. Since that time, he has had the privilege to consistently lead music in a local church context, with the past 3 years being spent in a full-time Worship Director position. In December of 2015, Matt and his wife of nine years, Tiffany, made the long journey from Nashville to join the staff of Village Church of Barrington. Matt is originally from McHenry, IL, a neighboring town to the north, so it is a blessing for them to once again be living near family. As a couple, Matt and Tiffany are extremely passionate about the Gospel and are excited, through it, to see lives changed and disciples made. They both share an enthusiasm for music, collecting vinyl records, great coffee, live performance, and art. Oh, and Matt would drive 100 miles out of his way in the hopes of finding great BBQ.

Tim has been on staff at the Village church since September 2002. He grew up in the majestic mountains of western Canada, met his wife in the majestic mountains of Europe and has settled on the not-so-majestic urban sprawl of the Midwest. Tim sensed a calling to worship ministry during high school and pursued training at a Bible school in Germany and then the Moody Bible Institute. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in music and has been using his training ever since. . . be encouraged parents! He has a small (but growing) collection of interesting instruments-two of his favorites being an oud and a sparkly green accordion. Although music is definitely a passion of his, Tim's other interests are pretty broad. He loves sports of any kind, ethnic food, traveling, reading, and hanging out with his family and friends. During the week you will find him rehearsing, practicing, writing, planning, or trying to adjust the heating/air conditioning controls. Tim and his wife Sara have three kids.

Val Stutz, Director of Women of His Word Ministry, delights in participating with the ladies of VCB, not only in the immense pleasure of prayer and the knowledge of the Truths of God’s Word, but also in the passion and application that the Word and focused prayer bring for all believing women living as “aliens and strangers” in this world. The greatest joy and challenge facing women, each day, is to learn more deeply how to live out God’s Greatest Commandment: “. . . love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). She delights in the joy found in so many women who are searching for this kind of relationship with God as well as those who have already experienced His overwhelming grace upon their lives. Val has been married to her best friend, Philip, since 1970; they have three grown children scattered from Boston, MA, to Bluefield, WV, to McHenry, IL. She graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in literature, spent 20 extraordinary years on the “mission field” of public education, teaching English to junior high and high school students in Buffalo Grove and Wauconda, IL, and taught one equally delightful year at the Classical Consortium at VCB. The passion of Val’s heart is to love God above all things (Mark 12:28-34), fear Him (Prov. 9:10), seek Him (Jer. 29:13), and share this extraordinary adventure with each and every woman God places in her path!
