The song I Lift My Eyes Up reflects the thoughts of Psalms 121-123. In ancient times, when worshippers of God entered Jerusalem their eyes would be lifted to the temple, the place where His glory dwelt. He was their helper, healer and keeper. He alone could soften a heart of stone. As believers we all have a story of God transforming our lives. He lifts our eyes and changes our hearts to become like His own. He calls us out of the world we once followed to follow Him alone. May this song of praise echo what God has done in your own heart.
Then Came Christmas - The Story
I was alone in church just before Christmas last year (2019) and I was going through some personal things in my life that I was really sad about. I came out of church crying on the inside and when I got to my car, I realized how foolish and full of self pity I was. I started looking at all of the blessings in my life both personally and professionally that God has blessed me with since my salvation in November 1982. Yes, there have been many intense, difficult and constant challenges since. It was way worse before that. I was a suicidal depressive maniac from about 18 to 25 years old and certainly not living in a manner worthy of Christ. I started thinking about Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and how God actually did send His Son to die for me and set me free! Then I started looking at my life and saw the countless times God has done miraculous things throughout my life and how he had been with me from the day of my birth even though I did not receive him until I was 28 years old. I am literally crying with gratitude as I am writing this.

Anyway, being a musician, what do we do, we write songs! That very night when I got home from church, I picked up my guitar and the song just came to me. I played around with it for a few days and buttoned it down. I was struggling with some of the lyrics, so I called Kevin Louis and he came over and filled in the blanks. I forgot about it for a while and just a couple of weeks ago, I thought, there is still time to put it out there for this Christmas.

I am forever grateful for finding the VIllage Church of Barrington and for the friendships I have developed there including all of the worship team. I used to dream about being part of the worship team at Village Church and within a year of going there (Jan 2012, I started attending) I have been. Praise God!!

I give thanks to God for this song and also for the amazing participants from the worship team:

Gerry Cote - Guitar Man Vocals
Tina Osborn - Angelic Voices
Kevin Louis - Bass Guitar
Ron DeSousa - Keys
Lucas DeSousa - Drums
